Yes, it’ true, this has been proved by a recently-held study that claims that if saffron is consumed daily, there are least chances of yours getting blind, as it keeps you protected against certain forms of blindness.

The study was conducted at Sydney University in Australia and University of L’Aquila in Italy. According to the researchers at the universities, saffron makes subtle cells of your eves greatly tough, which doesn’t let blindness cause to your eyes.

Saffron also known as golden spice is a spice, which can easily and commonly be found in Indian, Italian, and Spanish cuisine. Saffron is claimed to be very useful in preventing loss of eye sight in old age.

The study at the initial stage was carried out in animals, where it was proved that if you eat a diet that has saffron, you will be able to protect your against the damage, caused by bright sunlight. Plus, saffron helps slow down the growth of genetic diseases as Retinitis Pigmentosa. Saffron also comes handy for the people who have age-linked problems such as macular degeneration. This form of blindness is very commonly found in old age.

Last but not the least, saffron also has affect your genes, which keeps in control the fatty acid content of the cell membrane, where by the vision cells are made more tougher and resilient.

Prof. Silvia Bisti, leading researcher, says that saffron boast a variety of such properties. They brag of protecting your vision. Saffron, takes full advantage of its anti-oxidant properties, which block cell death.
